How is this different from MyFitnessPal or Cronometer?

Manual logging fails for almost everyone within a few weeks. Selfra requires no logging. The camera sees what you cook and eat, in the kitchen, with no app to open. The data set it builds is more accurate than what any tracker has ever had access to, because it is not filtered through what you remembered to enter.

How is this different from a wearable like Oura or Whoop?

Wearables measure output. Heart rate, sleep, recovery, glucose. They are useful, but they are half the loop. Selfra measures input. What you eat, how often, in what combinations. Together they close the loop. We integrate with the wearables you already use.

Why only the kitchen?

Because eighty percent of the variance in long-term health is decided there, three times a day, every day. The kitchen is the most consequential room in any home, and the only place where the inputs to your body can be observed without asking you to do anything. The depth of that one problem is enough to occupy a serious company for a decade. Selfra is a kitchen intelligence company.

What if I do not cook at home?

Accepted Answer

Selfra recognizes prepared dishes and takeout from common cuisines and infers ingredient and macro composition from visible content. Accuracy is highest for cooked-at-home meals, but the system is useful even if most of your food arrives in containers.

How accurate is the vision system?

Portion estimation from a single camera angle is now within a margin that beats human recall by a wide margin. Accuracy improves further over time as the system learns the specific patterns of your household. We will publish quantitative accuracy benchmarks before we ship.

Will it work for non-Western cuisines?

Yes, explicitly. Selfra is being built with global eating patterns from day one. The model handles African, South Asian, East Asian, Latin American, and Middle Eastern dishes alongside Western ones. It is not a salad bowl tracker. It is a food tracker.

When is Selfra shipping?

We are building toward a 2027 release. Waitlist members will be invited to a small private beta before then. We will not ship a kitchen camera until we are certain of the privacy model and the accuracy of the underlying intelligence.

Pricing has not been finalized. Selfra is a piece of consumer hardware with an ongoing intelligence service. Both will be priced for people who already invest seriously in their longevity. Founding members on the waitlist will see pricing first.

How does the camera work?

A small matte enclosure mounts under any cabinet with an adhesive bracket. It sees your countertop, your stove, and the inside of your fridge when the door opens. Recognition runs on the device. Audio is not captured.

Is my data private?

All vision processing happens locally on the device. Raw video never leaves your home. The model is trained to ignore people and to retain only food and surface information. You own your data and can export or delete it at any time.

What about households with multiple people?

Selfra builds individual nutrition profiles for up to six household members, distinguishing between people based on cooking patterns and optional manual tagging. It does not use facial recognition.

What about pets?

The model ignores non-human, non-food agents in the kitchen. Your dog stealing a chicken thigh off the counter will be logged as the chicken thigh leaving inventory, not as a meal you ate.

Yes. At launch we support Oura, Whoop, Apple Health, Function Health, and InsideTracker. Selfra correlates your inputs with their outputs, which is where the loop becomes valuable.

What happens to my data if Selfra is acquired or shuts down?

Your data is yours. In the event of an acquisition, the same privacy commitments transfer with the company in writing, or the data is deleted. In the event of a shutdown, you receive an export of your full history and your data is permanently erased. We will publish the legal language closer to launch.

Where do you ship?

Initial shipping is planned for the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the EU. Other regions will follow once we are confident the experience meets the bar locally.
